
We look forward to welcoming you to our 19th century farmhouse; originally a milking farm.
We are ideally situated in a peaceful setting with stunning views over the valley. Our home has been newly renovated and refurbished to an extremely high standard over the past two years and we are opening for business from April 2008. Situated just outside the village of Ver and 5 minutes from the market town of Gavray. Whether you are looking for a few days break, sightseeing, house hunting (we can help you arrange house hunting tours). You maybe passing through to go further a field we will be happy to accommodate you. Perfect for a relaxing holiday or weekend break and a great place to stop for those travelling further south.
Location - Normandy offers a wealth of history and culture, with many towns offering their own unique magic, markets can be found every day of the week, during the summer months on Sundays enjoy the local Vide Greniers (car boot sales). Close also to the borders of Calvados, only 35mins away. Perhaps you like to walk, play golf, cycle, spend days lazing on the beach enjoy bird watching or you like to explore historic and interesting places, you can find it all within easy distance of our comfortable home and there are unspoilt sandy beaches within 15 minutes drive.
Breakfast - Your inclusive breakfast can be served in our large farmhouse kitchen or alternatively in the dining room. Breakfast is continental and includes fresh croissants and fruit.
Evening Meals - After a busy day, we can provide you with a 4 course, home cooked, evening meal served with half bottle of wine per person or cider if preferred. Meals must be booked in advance for the first night and thereafter on a daily basis before 10am in the morning. Please also advise of any dietary requirements. Evening meals 20 euros per adult. 11euros per child under 12.

Attractions, things to do and see
Coutances With its magnificent cathedral. Beautiful gardens and Christian Dior Museum there is also an abundance of shops and restaurants 20 mins
Granville Historic harbour and old town. From here you can take a day trip to Jersey or take a picnic sunbathe and explore the French channel islands of Chaucey -15 mins
Villedieu Les Poeles Famous for its copper, visit the bell museum home to the original Liberty bell a new one has also been commissioned. On Tuesdays there is a busy market- 15mins
Avranches City of the manuscripts of Mont Saint Michel. Standing on a rock at the confluence of the rivers See and Selune, Avranches looks upon the bay of Mt St Michel Avranches is intimately linked to the Mont St Michel and is home to cultural treasures. Discover French cafι life many shops and places interest.- 45mins
Mont St Michel Wonderful day out to explore the medieval streets and visit the Abbey at the top of the Mount. You will need comfortable walking shoes. - 1 hr
Bayeux Visit the tapestry and enjoy the medieval town -1hr
D Day Landing Beaches Nostalgic history, museums and the memorials 1hr
Vire Valley Beautiful hidden lakes and forest walks with lots of places to picnic.. Stunning views and you will even find a Mott and bailey castle in the forest.- 25mins
Champrepus Zoo The zoo crosses the road and is in two parts there is a picnic area, cafι and playground 10mins
Golf A fantastic stay for golfers with some great courses within easy reach, we have listed just two of the courses but we can provide more details if required.
Golf Granville - 18 hole par 71/9hole par 33 Designed in 1912 then renovated in 1992 and running along the coast the sea breeze allows it to be played at all times and offers a good game over undulating fairways.
Golf Coutanville - 18 hole par 67 Classical links course founded in 1925 as a 9 hole course, it was extended to 18 holes just 9 years ago and makes the most of the natural contours of the land which abounds with wild life. Excellent drainage means the course can be played all year round.

Getting Here
Ferries The Ports of Caen and Cherbourg are both less than one and a half hours drive away. Le Harvre L&D line ferries two and a half hours.
Air Dinard airport one and a quarter hours with flights from East Midlands, Birmingham, Bristol and Stanstead Ryan Air. Cars can be hired at the airport. Cherbourg served by some smaller carriers from Southampton.
Train Rail links are from Paris to both Villedieu and Granville both 15 mins drive away.

Directions from Ports
Driving from Cherbourg follow signs touts directions then follow signs for Renns and Mont St Michel, on reaching Valognes take the D2 to Coutances then follow signs for Gavray travel though the town, cross over the bridge, turn right follow the road until you reach first major crossroads, turn left (direction Mesnil Garnier) after approx 500 meters turn left signpost La Grand Chalonniere.
Driving Le Harvre exit port and follow signs for Caen.
Driving from Caen take the peripherique sud and exit at jctn 9 direction Rennes A84 exit at jctn 37 Gavray follow signs for Mesnil Garnier D33 approx 5 miles after Mesnil Garnier the road bends sharp left signposted Ver follow for approx 300 yards there is a gravel driveway on the right, La Grande Chalonniere.
